23 - Rest day, Wellingborough

Breakfast just made me feel unwell for the day, and at this stage I don’t need a ruined appetite. We then headed off to the library, but we didn’t really recognise the facade as a library, so walked past it and checked out the market and shopping centre instead. I’ve decided Derby was a much nicer town, everyone here seems to be ugly and fat. They also look depressed, as if no amount of their cigarette smoking could cheer them up (not that that stops them).
Then we saw “library plus,” it was glass fronted with green and purple panelling and signs. I don’t know how we missed it (maybe because it looked like a closed down job centre). We went in and up the staircase to be welcomed by a very plush library and a very camp, bald volunteer. We asked to use the internet and he asked if we had library cards. I produced my Fife council card and he looked suspiciously at it. I said, “wait, I’ve got another,” and brandished my e-library card (with no regional markings, for computer use only). He told us to wait a second and brought a young woman back and told her that us, gentlemen, wanted to use the internet.
After internet usage we wandered around looking for the castle. We found a hindu temple instead, and a Polish corner shop selling incredible doughnuts (filled with cream and topped with icing and cherries).
After another rest at the hotel we got some pasta at a friendly Italian restaurant. There was an old guy sitting outside who was obtuse and cheeky when we scoured the menu (trying to get rid of us in our tattered clothes). We mostly rested in the hotel, I needed that most as I’m so tired; I pray I can make Bedford tomorrow.
